The Best 5 Cities for Celebrity Property Rentals

The Best 5 Cities for Celebrity Property Rentals
by Property Expert Kelly Swann

Believe it or not, most celebrities have landlords. Yes!  They live in rented homes just like you and I. Well almost, their price tags are somewhat higher. While there are rentals homes all over the US, for celebrities, they choose certain areas to call home. Here are the top five:

Porshas-home

5.) Atlanta, GA: Home to such reality stars like Porsha Williams who rented a 6 bedroom, 8000 square foot mini mansion. Porsha was rumored to have paid between $8,000- $12,000 a month for her home.

kardashians-hamptons-house-1-610x377

4.) The Hamptons: Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian rented a 14 million dollar waterfront mansion, which boasted 5 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms on a 3 acre lot.

rihanna.renterjpg

3.) New York City, NY- Rhianna is the ultimate renter. This diva rents a swanky penthouse, as well as several other rental homes in NYC. Her penthouse has 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths and she reportedly pays $39,000 a month for her home.

justin.bieber

2.) Beverly Hills, CA- Justin Bieber rents his $29,000 a month home here. Justin’s home has its own nightclub, theater, 3 bars and indoor gym.

JayZBeyonce1

1.) Los Angeles, CA:  Jay Z and Beyoncé rent a 16,000 sq. ft. home that is currently on the market for $48 million dollars.  The huge master bedroom with 3 walk in closets, infinity pool, wine cellar, and 6500 square feet of multi terrace outdoor views, rents for $200,000 a month. .

Some people have asked why do celebrities who in most cases have unlimited income, rent homes instead of buying? There are several reasons (stay tuned to my next article to find out the top 5 reasons celebrities rent) why a celebrity would choose to rent. When you rent a house, you typically only have a flat monthly fee that you’ll pay the landlord. The landlord takes care of all other costs of homeownership, including rising property taxes and maintenance expenses. Renting gives you greater control over your finances, something celebrities value. Also, if you’re unsure of where you’re next dollar is coming from, but one faced by many Hollywood actors, writers and producers – renting allows you to spend more or less depending on your cash flow.

Additionally renting allows you freedom to move around when you want to without having to be tied to a mortgage payment or trying to sell your home if you suddenly get traded to a new basketball team mid-season. Next time we will also take a sneak peek inside of Chris Brown’s $15,000 a month rental home and we will talk to Musiq Soulchild aka The Husel about the chill spots in his home, where he loves to write his hits.

International Jazz Sensation “Jimena Bautista” Swings with the United Nations Across The Border

Jimena Bautista Performs Live from the Red Carpet at Baja International Film Festival

“I was singing before I started speaking”, says Jimena Bautista, a young jazz vocalist from Mexico who has been enthralling international audiences with her unique sounds and style, “when I was 2, my family already had recordings of me. I was completely amazed and dazzled by Michael Jackson’s Beat It.” With the knowledge that music was her passion, even at that early age, Jimena’s path was set out before her. Born in Mexico City and raised in Cancun, it soon became clear that Jimena had inherited the talent that ran in her family. Her father, who played with the notable pop band Mister Loco, won accolades such as “World’s Most Popular Song” at the Yamaha contest in Tokyo during 1975, for Lucky Man. Following her education at a British private school, where she became bilingual, Jimena was eager to follow in his footsteps. “By the time I was 13 or 14, it was a different world for me. When I first heard Manhattan Transfer, I knew I wanted to do jazz,” she recalls. “I was also inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington’s orchestra. This is how I got started in the music industry–it was a little difficult for me at the beginning.”

Jimena persevered, and soon met the legendary George Duke, who became her mentor. “I met George Duke in 2003, at the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival. I was walking in the street and recognized him, and asked him where he was going to sing,” Jimena says. “He invited me to sing with him, live, and I was like, ‘Are you sure you want me to sing with you tonight?” Following that improvisational performance, Jimena’s career began to roll. She performed in such diverse locales as the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, and recorded tracks at Bennett Studios in New Jersey. Jimena is also a composer, and she produces all of her own music. “I create music in a variety of genres, a fusion of jazz, blues, and Mexican,” Jimena observes.

Jimena has also become involved in social causes, joining the United Nations’ Say NO, Unite To End Violence Against Women in Latin America campaign. “I was very honored to become part of this campaign, to send a message around the world to stop the violence,” Jimena states. “Violence against women in Latin America is a severe problem, and we shouldn’t be afraid to say it out loud.” The program encourages Latinas to stop the cycle of abuse through education and understanding that they can get away from their abusers. Participating in the UN campaign is an important part of Jimena’s professional life. “Women need to see that there is a better life for them out there.”

MY SWING MOODSWith a new album, My Swing Moods, Jimena is bringing it all together. “It’s all about positive emotions,” she notes, “a big step forward for me.” The collection, which was released during a live concert this past August at Jazz Club Muliero in Cancun, is a distinctive gallery of the artist’s latest work, including songs like Evidence Under The Pillow, We Will Always Be Together, and Showtime. Joining Jimena on the album are pianist Mario Patron, Aaron Cruz playing stand-up bass, drummer Giovanni Figueroa, and Grammy Award-winning engineer Alessandro Perrota, who worked with R&B icon Tony Bennett. It’s available on iTunes, and Jimena’s voice complements her band with a soft, touching blend of contemporary jazz and blues. The vocalist is also branching out into other art forms and projects.

“Five months ago, “Jimena says, “I was writing the story for a documentary. We’re going to film it in the next 3 months, and it has a lot of music! It tells the story of a jazz singer who doesn’t meet her father until later in her life.” Jimena’s long-term plans include enhancing the cross-border appeal of her music with audiences in the United States, “showcasing everything I have,” and continuing to create more resonant, enthralling music. You can visit Jimena’s website at http://www.jimenabautista.net, follow her on Twitter at @JimenaBJazz, or join her on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/jimenasinger. Her music is available for download on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/my-swing-moods/id485775222.

IMG_6720 (640x427)The recent kickoff of the annual Guns Down, Life Up anti-violence concert campaign in New York City, saw a special addition to the roster of notables on hand to support this worthwhile cause. Antwoine ‘Mr. Man’ Dorm, Jr., the 8-year old actor and boxing phenomenon, joined with popular hip-hop recording artist Fred The Godson, fabulous Celebrity Fitness Instructor Charity Lynette of trendsetter Curvy Chick Fitness, acclaimed BET writer/producer Samson Styles, The Source Magazine’s Erica Ford, thisis50.com, DJ Kev White, plus hip-hop sensations Grafh and Citty Boii.

The meet and greet, held at the 125th Street Dr. Jay’s store opposite the renowned Apollo Theater in Harlem, featured music from DJ Robe Rob, and an impressive boxing demonstration by young ‘Mr. Man’, whose father and trainer, Antwoine Dorm, Sr., owns the non-profit Stick & Move Boxing, Inc. Based in York, Pa., the group’s motto is “You Can’t Pull A Trigger With Boxing Gloves On”. The organization was invited to join the Guns Down, Life Up concert tour, with an eye towards bringing the campaign back home to York, where 3 youths have died by gun violence in recent days. At the gala launch event, attended by spoken-word artists, local activists, celebrities, and other special guests, official Guns Down, Life Up T-shirts and hoodies were sold to raise funds to help support the movement.

The Guns Down, Life Up Project, which will receive a portion of the concert funds, is also supported by the Fund For HHC (Health and Hospitals Corporation, the agency that operates New York City’s municipal hospitals). The movement has partnered with the Dr. Jay’s urban apparel chain for a series of concerts running from November 2013 to 2014, at their retail locations all over the city, and in Newark, NJ. Tour dates were to be announced on the retailer’s website in the coming weeks.

Through violence interruption programs and youth development activities, Guns Down, Life Up seeks to offer young people positive activities to prevent them from being drawn into a culture of gun violence. The campaign will work with HHC’s Harlem Hospital Center and Kings County Hospital, community-based organizations, local leaders and other interested groups, to curb the incidence of gun violence in central Brooklyn and Harlem.

‘Mr. Man’, who has been giving the boxing ring attitude and speed like his idol, Floyd Mayweather, since age 5, is dedicated to the Guns Down, Life Up campaign, in addition to working on upcoming film and music video projects. He’s also looking to do TV commercials and other appearances in the near future, and as a talented boxer and actor, Antwoine ‘Mr. Man’ Dorm, Jr. will soon dominate the entertainment world.
