Press Release: Legendary Group “Oaktown’s 357” issues statement on Don Cornelius Death

Lil P & Sweet L.D. of Oaktown’s 357

We are truly saddened today by the loss of Don Cornelius. It hurts to learn of how he passed. I grew up watching Soul Train my entire childhood and adulthood. We had no idea that when we became part of the M.C. Hammer posse and then again as Oaktown’s 357 that we would be priviledged to perform on Soul Train!

We remember meeting him when we performed as Oaktown’s 357 on Soul Train and Mr. Cornelius being so cool and keeping us calm. We will always remember the experience of being part of the Dynamic Soul Train History.

A dream come true, because we watched that show every saturday afternoon wishing we could be one of the dancers dancing down the Soul Train line or work the Soul Train board.

Don Cornelius pioneered and revolutionized television and American culture with his vision, creativity, generosity in helping artist, musicians & comedians get their start on Soul Train.

He’s had such a long reaching affect on the music industry for decades. He will be missed. We pray his spirit can rest in peace and know that he is a star! He touched and changed lives in a tremendous way.

Blessings to Don Cornelius and his loved ones.

Press Release: Legendary Queen of The Bay “Suga-T” gives Statement on Don Cornelius Death

Don Cornelius meant so much to the world of entertainment. He showcased soul music that gave people a happy feeling in the morning when we woke up to the show on Saturdays.

This was a great feeling for me as a child and as an adult being on the show. When I got on the show to perform the hit song “Sprinkle Me” with my brother e40, I felt like it was a dream. It was even better when I find out that he let me and my brother e40 on to perform “Sprinkle Me” because of me.

I will miss him and pray that his soul rests peacefully. I hope that they will play the soul train episodes for the years to come and show the new generation the blessing that we had.

When the new host came on to soul train it couldn’t compare to Don Cornelius.
