Dr. Sharon Draper to speak to boys in DTLR Book Club for Boys

The metro Atlanta community is invited and encouraged to attend

Event is free and open to the public

Atlanta (GA) – December 6, 2011 –Five-time Coretta Scott King Literary Award winner and New York Times Best-Selling Author Dr. Sharon Draper will discuss her book “Tears of a Tiger” with boys in the DTLR Book Club for Boys on Tuesday, December 13, 6 p.m. at the Southwest Public Library ( 3665 Cascade Road, Atlanta). The event is free and the metro-Atlanta area youth and parents are encouraged to attend.

“We are very excited about this event because Dr. Draper is known for creating books that teens can relate to,” said Sherri Goodall, DTLR’s Community Outreach Manager. “As a former educator she understands how to reach kids and how to get them to read.”

“Tears” tells the story of a high school student who is haunted by the death of his friend, a death he caused. While his other friends have managed to work through their grief and move on, Andy allows death to become the focus of his life. In the months that follow the accident, the lives of Andy and his friends are traced through a series of letters, articles, homework assignments, and dialogues, and it becomes clear that Tigers do indeed need to cry.

The event is sponsored by DTLR, the Fulton County Public Library and Delaney House Publishing.
