“SURPRISE SURPRISE, MR. CONOVY” INDEPENDENT FILM SCREENING
Writer-director Heather Ferreira makes her debut with a searing, gritty short film about an amateur NYC pornographer in the summer of 1977 who acquires a snuff film in which an innocent child is malevolently murdered for sport, then encounters the child’s father – only to learn Daddy is a professional hit man.
Ferreira has been tapped by Harvey Keitel to direct “Gangsterland”, a 2012 film he has agreed to co-produce and star as villain Joey Valentine in, alongside Robert DeNiro, slated to play Godfather Johh Russo, and legendary director Martin Scorsese, who is slated to play the lead, Louis Giulini, a troubled and arrogant capodecino who rises to challenge Russo for power. That film takes place in New York City 2061-2065 A.D., projecting the activities of the Italian mob in New York 50 years from today.
“Naked City”, a feature based on the events and characters of “Surprise Surprise, Mr. Conovy”, is cast and now in pre-production, and Ferreira will be directing the film on location in New York late 2011 and early 2012.
