Ebony Steele (www.ebonysteele.com ) embodies the essence of what it means to lead, inspire and persevere. Ebony Steele’s daily adjustments to balance life, career, health and wellness are ones that are relatable to women across the globe. Each year 1 and 35 women in the U.S are diagnosed with breast cancer and Ebony serves as a beacon of light as she has and continues to defeat this disease. This year she is a Susan G. She uses these same qualities daily as she is a successful entrepreneur of a dance performance studio and entertainer, co-hosting a nationally syndicated radio show.
(Susan G. Komen for the Cure®) Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested nearly $1.3 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Circle of Promise has pledged to do our part to ensure that African American women are empowered with the information and tools they need to take charge of their own health and serve as ambassadors in their local communities. The Circle of Promise movement is designed to engage African American women to help end breast cancer forever by fostering increased awareness, support, empowerment and action.
