Detroit Lion Justin Durant Joins Metro Times As Guest Columnist!

Detroit (October 10, 2011) – Metro Times is adding some proper Motor City muscle to its award -winning writing staff. It’s true. Detroit Lions star Justin Durant will pen a column that tackles all manner of pop culture ephemera, focusing mostly on music. The column, called “Star Traction,” debuts Monday, October 10 on the Metro Times’ website, and in the print edition on Wednesday, October 12.

The starting outside linebacker, who’s learning to DJ in the offseason, says he’s been passionate about music his entire life, citing a wide range of influences and reference points. The self described “music head” is eager to share his thoughts on the role music plays in his life, on and off the field, as well as strong commentary on the landscape today.

The South Carolina native says he adores Detroit and its rich music scene and history. He made the city his home in July 2011 after spending four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. With its cultural reputation, Durant knew Metro Times would be the perfect outlet for his creative expression.

Look for “Star Traction” in both print and web each week. http://www.metrotimes.com
